Target Background

Function
Membrane-anchoring subunit of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) that is involved in complex II of the mitochondrial electron transport chain and is responsible for transferring electrons from succinate to ubiquinone (coenzyme Q). Mediates resistance to enteropathogenic E.coli infection.
Gene References into Functions
  1. We find that mev-1 mutants cannot respond adequately to increased energy demands, suggesting that oxidative phosphorylation is more severely impaired in these animals than has previously been appreciated. PMID: 28039571
  2. MEV-1 as a key regulatory component for determining genetic responsiveness to oxidant/antioxidant imbalance that is associated with innate immunity PMID: 25747713
  3. Increase of glucose in mev-1 mutant of C elegans reduced the lifespan of the nematodes without affecting classic markers of aging PMID: 23354069
  4. Cyt-1 has a role in mitochondrial structure, and ced-3- and ced-4-dependent apoptosis and aging PMID: 12672828
  5. the crystal structure of antiapoptotic CED-9 reveals a unique C-terminal helix altering the common BH3-binding region; the binding of EGL-1 to CED-9 is extremely stable PMID: 12894216
  6. While we confirmed the ability of CED-9 to inhibit CED-4, our data argue that CED-9 can not directly inhibit CED-3. PMID: 15543163
