Target Background

Function
Isoform E is a PKA-dependent transcriptional activator. Isoform J is a direct antagonist of activation by isoform E in cell culture. Binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus: 5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. Has a role in long-term memory.
Gene References into Functions
  1. Early-onset sleep defects in mutated HTT Drosophila models of Huntington's disease reflect alterations of PKA/CREB signaling. PMID: 26604145
  2. changes suggest that dCREB2 functions in both the ellipsoid body and the mushroom body for long term memory formation, and that this activity contributes to the process of systems consolidation. PMID: 25460038
  3. Our data suggest the model that Notch and PKC activities generate a cyclical accumulation of cytoplasmic hyper-PO4 CREB that is a precursor for generating the nuclear CREB isoforms. PMID: 23904617
  4. Overexpression of a dCREB2 activator can enhance memory formation. PMID: 23616553
  5. in light-light conditions, dCREB2 and NF-kappaB reporter flies exhibit suppression of rhythmic activity. Neuronal cycling of dCREB2 and NF-kappaB activity are modulated in period mutant flies, indicating these oscillations are controlled through the central clock PMID: 23077489
  6. This study demonstrates that CREB activity in either neuronal or peripheral tissues regulates energy balance in Drosophila. PMID: 20041126
  7. Isoform, dCREB2-b, is a repressor of dCREB2-a. Here, we demonstrate that overexpression of dCREB2-b in virgin females enhances their sexual receptivity. PMID: 12467339
  8. cAMP-response element-binding protein DNA binding in Drosophila is regulated by phosphorylation of conserved casein kinase sites PMID: 14676200
