Target Background

Function
Probable glycosidase that plays a role in cell wall architecture. Required for the transfer of chitin to 1,6-beta-glucan in the cell wall.
Gene References into Functions
  1. catalytic properties of Crh1 yeast cell wall transglycosylases PMID: 23919454
  2. Crh1 and Crh2 catalyze the transfer of chitin to both beta(1-3)- and beta(1-6)glucan in cell wall. PMID: 19734368
  3. Study indicates that Crh1p and Crh2p, homologues of glycosyltransferases, ferry chitin chains from chitin synthase III to beta(1-6)glucan. PMID: 17302808
  4. Crh1p and Crh2p act as transglycosylases in vivo and in vitro PMID: 18694928
Subcellular Location
Secreted, cell wall. Membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor. Note=Covalently-linked GPI-modified cell wall protein (GPI-CWP), localized particularly in chitin-rich areas. Found at the incipient bud site, around the septum area in later stages of budding, and in ascospore envelopes. Redistributes uniformly over the cell cortex upon heat stress.
Protein Families
Glycosyl hydrolase 16 family, CRH1 subfamily
