Target Background

Function
Plays a role in innate immunity limiting microbial proliferation in the gut. Acts downstream of a hh-signaling pathway to induce the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in response to intestinal bacterial infection. May generate antimicrobial oxidative burst through its peroxidase-like domain.
Gene References into Functions
  1. our results propose that the uracil/Duox pathway promotes bacteria expulsion from the gut through the HOCl-sensitive receptor, TRPA1(A)10b, thereby minimizing the chances that bacteria adapt to survive host defense systems. PMID: 26726767
  2. wound-induced calcium flash activates DUOX PMID: 23394834
  3. One gene required to activate epidermal wound reporters encodes Dual oxidase, an enzyme that produces hydrogen peroxide. PMID: 22242003
  4. dDuox plays important roles in the stabilization of the cuticle structure of the wings. PMID: 21808060
