Target Background

Function

Catalyzes the ATP-dependent phosphorylation of L-homoserine to L-homoserine phosphate. Is specific for L-homoserine and cannot use other substrates such D-serine, L-serine, D-threonine and L-threonine, galactose or D-homoserine in vitro. Required for susceptibility to the downy mildew pathogen Hyaloperonospora parasitica.

Gene References into Functions

The dmr1-2 mutant allele confers increased resistance to Fusarium culmorum and F. graminearum silique infection, and decreased colonisation of rosette leaves. The dmr1-1 allele supports less rosette leaf colonisation but has wild type silique resistance. PMID: 25432266
Data indicate that pathogen resistance by impairment of PMR4 (callose synthase 12) and DMR1 (homoserine kinase) is conserved between Arabidopsis and Tomato. PMID: 23818978
HSK overexpression had no effect on the level of soluble homoserine phosphate, methionine and threonine/me PMID: 15703056
Six independent dmr1 mutants each carry a different amino acid substitution in the HSK protein. Data provide evidence that homoserine accumulation in the chloroplast triggers a novel form of downy mildew resistance. PMID: 19622802
