Target Background

Function

Has a role in early neural and epidermal development; neuroblast movements during closure of the gastrulation cleft and epidermal morphogenesis. Vab-1 and ptp-3 may function redundantly within the same sets of neuronal precursors.

These data are suggestive of ptp-3 as a potential negative regulator of several kinase families, such as the mitogen activated kinases (MAPKs), and multiple tyrosine kinases including FER, MET, and NTRK2. PMID: 27067626
Long isoform PTP-3A acts as a molecular link between the extracellular matrix and alpha-liprin during synaptogenesis; the short isoform PTP-3B is extrasynaptic. PMID: 16107639
