Function

NPY is implicated in the control of feeding and in secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone.

Gene References into Functions

Overexpression of NPY increases sleep, whereas mutation of npy or ablation of npy-expressing neurons decreases sleep. NPY regulates sleep primarily by modulating the length of wake bouts. PMID: 29225025
