KLK7, as a member of the kallikrein family, encodes a protein that is highly expressed in tissues such as epithelial cells in the skin layer, and has a unique double-stranded structure and sheet organization. KLK7 plays a key role in regulating skin keratinization and barrier function, participating in the normal shedding process of keratinocytes, and mediating the destruction of keratinized desmosomes by hydrolyzing proteins that connect the extracellular region. In addition, KLK7 also has the specific ability to lyse human insulin in vitro. Although the signaling pathway directly involved in KLK7 has not been clearly identified, given its role in skin health and various skin diseases, it can be speculated that it may indirectly affect signaling pathways related to cell cycle, apoptosis, immune regulation, and inflammation. Future research will further reveal the specific mechanism of KLK7 in these processes.
The following Klk7 reagents supplied by CUSABIO are manufactured under a strict quality control system. Multiple applications have been validated and solid technical support is offered.
