ODC ornithine decarboxylase is a key enzyme that catalyzes the decarboxylation of ornithine to polyamine, which is an important step in the synthesis of polyamines. ODC consists of 461 amino acids and forms a homodimeric structure, rapidly converting between monomeric and dimeric forms within the cell. As an enzyme essential for cell growth, ODC stabilizes newly synthesized DNA by producing polyamines, which plays an important role in DNA structural stability, DNA double-strand break repair, and antioxidant defense. Although ODC itself does not directly participate in specific signaling pathways, its central role in cell growth and polyamine synthesis may indirectly affect certain signaling pathways, such as regulating Akt/GSK3β/β-catenin signaling pathways to affect the proliferation, invasion, and migration of liver cancer cells.
The following ODC reagents supplied by CUSABIO are manufactured under a strict quality control system. Multiple applications have been validated and solid technical support is offered.
